Charles Zimmerman maintained an article about Chichester for awhile.

December 25, 1999
December has been a very rewarding month for your local historian. Eva Quick, long-term Chichester resident and nearly forty-year community correspondent for several local news publications including the Ulster County Townsman, recently donated her five chronologically arranged scrapbooks of writings to our Town by way of yours truly. The first article, “New Writers Send Shandaken News”, dated July 21, 1961 from the Catskill Mountain News, indicates that Eva started her local record-keeping career with them earlier that Spring.
At the time of their writing, local correspondent columns represent day-to-day occurrences in the lives of local residents. Over a period they become historical documentation of births, marriages, deaths, real estates changes of ownership and an array of other usual and unusual activities not always readily or easily available from any other source, if available at all. Included are excerpts from Chichester winter-month articles secured from the Eva Quick collection.

I cannot recall very many winter stories told to me by  my dad, Charles H. Zimmerman, who was born in Chichester on December 19, 1907. Yes....mounds of snow, as evidenced by early Chichester photos,... and the smell of freshly baked breads and pies....but one story I distinctly recall.....that of frozen chamber pots every time you went upstairs to the unheated portion of the house.....Does anyone not know a chamber pot?
“Have a very merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and the Happiest of New Years”.....from the Chichester NEWS (almost any year), Eva Quick, correspondent
